1. Adam Gilchrist

Adam Craig Gilchrist, popularly known as “Gilly”, was also the captain of the Australian Team besides being one of the best wicketkeepers of all time. He had achieved a total of 416 dismissals in 191 innings out of 96 Test Matches in his active international test career between 1999 and 2008. In ODI, he achieved 472 dismissals in 281 innings out of 287 ODIs in his career between 1996 and 2006. He managed to win 3 consecutive World Cups, 2 Champion’s Trophies and many other accolades.

2. Mark Boucher

This cricketer from South Africa holds the record for the most dismissals by a wicket-keeper in a test cricket. He has achieved a total of 555 dismissals in 281 innings in 147 test matches, besides taking 532 catches and making 23 stumps at a rate of 1.975 dismissals per match. In ODI too he has an illustrious number to brag about. A total of 424 dismissals in 290 innings in 295 matches lies in his kitty. In fact, he had debuted by filling the wicket-keeper slot left empty by Dave Richardson in 1998.

3. MS Dhoni

The inspiration of many young cricketers and a name every Indian is aware of, MS Dhoni, has achieved, in 166 innings in 90 test matches, a total of 294 dismissals while a total of 444 dismissals in 345 innings in 350 ODIs. In Test category, he has taken 256 catches besides 38 stumps at a rate of 1.771 dismissals per match whil in ODI, the stats stand for 321 catches and 123 stumps at a rate of 1.286 dismissals per ODI. He has not only achieved his career’s best 6 dismissals in a single test match with 6 catches but also his career’s best 6 dismissals in a single ODI.

4. Kumar Sangakkara

Despite giving up wicket-keeping in the long form of cricket, he is one of the noted names in the arena of wicket-keeping. The record of most dismissals by a wicket-keeper in ODI is his crown. He has a total of 151 dismissals in 130 innings in 90 matches in Test category. He took 131 catches and made 20 stumps at a rate of 1.677 dismissals per match. In ODI, he achieved 482 dismissals in 353 innings in 404 matches.

5. Ian Healy

The Australian cricketer has achieved 395 dismissals in 224 innings in 119 test matches. He took 336 catches and made 29 stumps at a rate of 1.763 dismissals per match. In ODI, he has achieved 233 dismissals in 168 innings in 168 ODI matches between 1988 and 1997. He took 194 catches and made 39 stumps at a rate of 1.386 dismissals per ODI. At the time of his retirement, he held the record for the most dismissals in cricket.
